Small Scottish Domestic Regulator Longcase Clock (Scotland, c. 1830)

A rather fine and original regulator longcase clock. Made for a domestic house, this clock has an accurate and finely made movement, incorporating a centre sweep seconds hand, a dead beat pin wheel escapement and maintaining power on the going train. The solid mahogany case is of typical Scottish Regency form having a dome hood, 1/4 side columns, a figured door and bracket feet. The 8 day movement sounds the hours on a bell and was made by John Webster of Edinburgh, who is listed as working in Edinburgh 1826-1869.
